Golden Autumn

"The time of the falling leaves has come again. Once more on our morning walk, we tread upon carpets of gold and crimson, of brown and bronze, woven by the winds and the rains...How full of light and color are their last days in October...the whole body of air seems enriched by their calm, slow radiance. They are giving back the light that they have been absorbing all summer." - John Burroughs, "The Falling Leaves"

Christmas Presence

December 24, 2017 (358/365)

"The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other."

- Burton Hillis

I really miss my Mom today. Christmas Eve was her favorite day of the year. But she is here in our hearts and in the packages that are wrapped in paper that she chose for us.

Spring Green

April 25, 2017 (115/365)

"Nature’s first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; but only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, so dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay." - Robert Frost, Nothing Gold Can Stay
