"Warm Woolen Mittens"
January in Wisconsin can be a winter wonderland or dreary and bone-chilling. On a day like today, I love my Norwegian mittens! They are soft, warm, and the perfect shade of "greige." Putting them on makes me feel instantly cozier! They were a gift from my friend Lisa's mom, Lill, who grew up in Gjesvær, Norway, above the Arctic Circle. These traditional two-toned star, rose, or snowflake patterns called "Selbu" or "Selbuvotten" were first created in 1850. There are now more than 300 registered Selbu patterns! Snowflakes, Norwegian traditions, and these warm, woolen mittens are "a few of my favorite things!"
